RE: Guitar Purchase
I felt the need to share this with you and hope it will be useful to anyone looking for a high quality guitar with an unbelievable price/value ratio:
I recently retired and over many, many years have owned just about every kind and make of guitar worth having - whether solid, hollowbody, semi hollow or acoustic. Among brand names there's been: Gibson & Epiphone, Fender (American, Japanese & Squire), Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Ovation, Burns, Vox, etc. etc. as well as many "no-names". At my advanced age I'm now reduced to just 2: an Epi LP & an American Strat - both have upgraded pickups.
Anyway, recently found myself with a desire for something new and settled on a Telecaster, having had a Squire model sometime in the 1980's. So, naturally, I turned to E-bay, pretty soon realizing I would probably end up with another Squire (being retired things like price/value/quality tend to be important). Purely by chance I came across a new site for: AXE Guitars by Miller. My excitement grew as I scrolled thru the different models that were available - LP, Strat & Tele. The site provided many photos of each model in many colors & finishes etc.
I was extremely impressed with the very apparent high quality of each model - as well as somewhat stunned that they could be offered at such unbelievably reasonable prices!! John, the site administrator & Co. owner, was just about the friendliest, most helpful & informative person I've met on E-bay, when I emailed for advice. Somehow I stuck to my original choice of Telecaster model but the choice of finish was not easy - finally settling on the gorgeous Red Paisley - so my order was placed.
Upon arrival of the package - well, just let me say that I've never been happier with a purchase - on E-bay or not!!!
At first sight the guitar looked every bit as gorgeous as the online pics and closer scrutiny could not find one single flaw!! The quality of materials and workmanship were also very high - this was no cheap foreign knockoff! (The pickups are even engraved with the Miller name!) Frets - smooth and well dressed - no sharpies at all - on a perfect maple neck, adding to the sheer pleasure of playability with low action out of the box!! And when I plugged it in.........oh my..........not sure if superb is a good enough adjective!!!! Never had a guitar that became "my favorite" so quickly!! I can't wait to re-record some of my originals!!
All in all I am sooooo happy to have come across the Axe by Miller website and can't thank John enough for such a terrific product. I am happy to recommend this wonderful new line of guitars to anybody.
John, Your guitar is quite impressive ! Received it in immaculate condition with no tension on truss rod.Took it to Chico,Ca. Guitar Center & handed it over to Mike Mace ,their guitar set-up & repair guy,& asked him to do what he does, giving it a going over, letting me know what his thoughts were about the guitar. After spending @ 20 to 30 minutes working it over he responded that he didn't want to insult me if he were wrong that he felt the guitar to be a really nice instrument with a probable cost between $800.oo to $1,200.oo . He was quite impressed with the way it sounds & plays, the fit & finish, the body density as well as complimenting the neck, bridge, tone,& y'all topping it off with the locking tuners & vintage color & grain of the neck.My grandson William, couldn't be more pleased with his new favorite guitar. Thanks to you, Stan Bunstock p.s. keep makin' 'em like this!
Re: Cherry Sunburst Strat style
Dear Sir I rec'd my axe cherry sunburst strat last night, I have always wanted a cherry strat with a maple neck, but there just too much. I have been playing since I am 10 years old, presently in my 50"s. I have owned several fender strats, recently within the last 2 years, 1 was a deluxe players, cost $649 I had to return it as it was horrible sounding, then I purchased a fender standard strat for $499 I kept for a while , but then sold on ebay, just felt junk for the money. Your guitar for the money is fantastic, I feel played better then, feels better then, and sounds great, I can't thank you enough for the purchase , I am very pleased just wanted you to know, Thank you John Bartone
This guitar is absolutely gorgeous. I've been looking for a tele for a while now
and this one is the best.
Good morning Sir. I received my guitar last week and wanted to drop you an email and let you know that I am absolutely shocked! This is hands down one of the best guitar purchases that I have ever made. This guitar has absolutely exceeded my expectations on ALL levels. When I purchased it I was thinking OK hopefully I'll end up with a solid body and neck and then I'll gut the electronics and pickups and replace them with what I want. This guitar needs absolutely nothing replaced or changed (other than an initial setup for the player of course, but all guitars are going to need that). Neck relief was spot on right out of the box. The strings were a little high for me so I lowered the saddles a bit, dropped the pickups to compensate for that and set the intonation. I played it a bit and was amazed. I did change the strings over the weekend and dropped a set of my favorites on it and now it's perfect for me. I would be willing to bet that if someone did a blind test with one of these guitars against more expensive brands they would have a very hard time picking out the big money guitar, if they could do it at all. I really don't think you can find a comparable guitar with these features at this price point period. I haven't taken a peek inside it yet, but I'm wondering what size pots and pickups you used in these? Whatever they are, they work so please don't change them. Now I'm wanting one of your Tradition Series LP guitars. I would really love a white one (hint) with silver hardware, not gold :-) Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with my new guitar and to say thanks for making something of this quality available at such a low price point.

I just recently bought a beautiful Golden Sparkle Tele from AXE Guitars by Miller. This guitar is really a fine instrument, ESPECIALLY for the price!
I have been surrounded by guitars for decades. I have opened for national acts, I have toured the US, Mexico, Canada, and have done (just one) USO tour. I have high end PRS's, I have Fenders, I have a high end Custom Shop Washburn, I have high end Deans, high end G&L's----all great guitars, AND this Tele by AXE Guitars by Miller is killer, and a superb bargain. Hands down!!
The tuning machines work well. The Nut is well cut. The neck is gorgeous patterned Maple. The radius of the neck is 14", which is quite a flat neck---great for chords AND radical solo work. AND it's quite rare to get a neck of this radius for this price. The frets are perfect---good height, AND NO buzzing as you play up the neck and start to bend the strings. This is a great surprise, for such an affordable guitar to have such a nice ONE PIECE neck that plays THIS well. Hardly a 'dead spot' on the neck. I have more dead spots on one of my PRS's. Unreal.
The body: Fantastic GOLD SPARKLE finish-----SO COOL. No flaws. The neck/body joint is tight and secure. Alder wood-----great selection for a body. Good weight; not too heavy, but enough weight to hang securely on one's body---very nice. Perfect balance.
The pickups sound very nice. Neck pup is lovely. Both pups (together) sound really nice: good Tele quack. The bridge pup is THE Tele sound. All in all the pups are Vintage sound. THAT's what you want from this guitar.
The bridge and it's adjustable parts works perfectly. (just lube, lightly) The 1/4" input jack is firm and tight--secure. The Vol/Tone knobs have a good feel: Nicely dampened---not loose and sloppy.
The guitar came packaged VERY well--very secure. It had to travel all the way to Hawaii.
Speaking of Hawaii: There is lots of humidity and a warmer climate here---After I received the Tele in the mail, I immediately "set it up" to my preferred 'feel'. After several days now, the neck has not changed, the guitar seems to stay in tune, and all in all the entire instrument is stable. This is a very good indicator that the guitar is really well built. ( I am a Commercial pilot with over 18,000 hours of flight time. Quality matters to me...)
I'm stoked-----------I love it.
John will go out of his way to get you a great guitar at an amazing price------
The guitar arrived today. I don't know how you do it for a price that low, but this is a great job! I can't play it loud at this late hour and not wake up the kids, so I'll play it tomorrow. I'll take some time to write more detailed feedback some time this week. I particularly appreciate the set up. I probably won't change anything - it's good to go as it is.
First impression: very satisfied with this purchase. I've bought all the guitars I have owned online, and this purchase is likely the best one in terms of 1) price/value and 2) customer care.
Thanks for your business!
Let me start by saying I've been playing for about fifteen years.I've always played epiphone and Gibson lp standards. As most guitar players we normally stick with our brands right now I have a epiphone blueburst and a cherryburst. One day I was just browsing ebay and came across axe by miller guitars. After reading the reviews and that there hand made plus well under 200 dollars figured let's give it a shot.So I ordered the cherryburst lp , wow is all I can say this is no cheap knock off people it sounds great it looks great couldn't find a flaw anywhere. And the owner of the company was very patient in answering all my questions. Now I have a slightly used epiphone cherryburst lp for sale lol.If your looking for a great guitar for a really steal of a price Axe by Miller should be your first choice.Thank you for a awsome guitar!
I got the guitar Wed. It's really nice for the money! I did a quick set up and played it at band practice. The sound is great! I'm doing a show with it tonight after that I'm replacing the strings and doing a bit of fine tuning! I appreciate the great price and great service! Regards.....Dave
Recieved My Flamed Violin Burst Axe Freedom Custom Deluxe #12. I am very pleased with my purchase. The quality is outstanding. The pictures do not do the flamed neck justice. No frets sticking out from sides of neck. smooth as butter and perfect. All I had to do is tune the guitar up. The pickups are really good. The neck pickup is sweet and the bridge pickup has bite but not overly bright. I was twang out and doin some chicken pickn! Sounds great. The T style of guitar is my favorite style but I have some custom mods I have been wanting to do but not on a $1200 to $2000 guitar. I am not that confident in my skills yet. I recieved my FB T style guitar and there is nothing I would change. I will definately do more business with you again and highly recommend your guitars. This is not junk. I was lookn for a travel guitar for work and on the road it is perfect. I just need a gig bag. Nothing wrong with a high quality AXE Guitar by Miller Gig bag!!;-) Ha Ha! Just a few things or slight flaws I noticed but not worth shipping the guitar back or bad mouthing you or your company. I fact I want in! I am that impressed!;-) Just kiddn. Look I spent well over $20,000 on guitars and gear over the years and that is a conservative estimate. Just ask my wife God Bless Her! The neck is unbelievable that could go for $1,0000 & up on its own. Just because I am a guitar Junkie does not mean this guitar is junk. This is a nice instrument & I love it! Have not decided on a name for her though- Maybe 'Ice Tea' -Color and finish are flawless. Thank You John! Hope your company grows and is successfull!
Update on 02/07/2015
Layin in bed this morning playin my 'Sweet T Axe'. This guitar is piano on a slab. What great sustain-Had to check to see if it was a Hollowbody. Did you hand pick this?Wanted to check to see if the honeymoon was over. It is hard to believe. This is my #1 Guitar & I have many. Wow what a product you offer. Did you hand pick this? This is a great musical instrument! I took me years to discover a Tweed Bassman & Blackface Deluxe Reverb. This ranks as one of the best Teles I ever played! Thanks!!
The following is my response to your product. I tried to attach a photo, hope you can view it, thanks again for everything: I hope will be useful to anyone looking for a High Quality Guitar with an Unbelievable Price. I have been playing an American Standard Deluxe Telecaster for many years now. When I saw the Paisley Blue Axe by Miller, the first thing that caught the eye was the Guitar Design. At first I thought to myself, how can such a Gorgeous Guitar be sold at such a good price? I figured it would it would play like a barbed wire fence put on a 2 x 4. I took a chance and bought the guitar. When I received it, it was flawless. The body was absolutely gorgeous. The frets are perfect---good height, and no buzzing as you play up the neck and start to bend the strings. The tones that the guitar has are signature of ANY high end telecaster. I love the locking tuners on this guitar. The string height was just a little too much for me, but with very minor adjustment, they are perfect now. There was very little adjustment to the intonation after dropping the strings. I did change the Pick guard from the Black to a Clear pick guard. I did this because I thought that the Black was covering up to much of the gorgeous designs. Hands down, the Paisley Blue Axe tele is a Superb Guitar at an Unbelievable price. Thanks to John, emails that were sent referencing the guitar were responded to in a very timely manner. I can’t wait to start building my Purple/Pink Paisley.
The guitar has just arrived and has been inspected..... This is a heck of a lot of guitar for $200 ......
I have been in the industry for the majority of my adult life... Last job before moving back to CO was the Sales manager at Warmoth guitar products for several years and before that I was the head tech for Tube Works (Mosvalve) guitar amps.... So after Google searching for inexpensive Tele-styled guitars you popped up... and seeing that you are a small business (and I am a huge supporter of small business) I ordered this from you...... and I'll be honest with you I bought this guitar for my daughter to play around with and / or "wall art"..... for a couple hundred bucks my expectations were at the "Squier Affinity" level..
Bottom line.... Daughter is not getting this.... I am very pleasantly surprised with the acoustic tone of this (have not had a chance to plug in yet) ... the first thing I noticed was that it didn't have that "overseas wood tone" most commonly found in most imported guitars... this is a good sign that plugged it should sound pretty darned good... all it really needs is some personal set up tweaks, fret polishing and some heavier strings and it should be good to go.... I appreciate your basic set up... after tuning it was playable out of the box (as in I could have gigged it on the spot) nice touch! .... the guitar, hardware and appointments are way more than what a $200 guitar should be..... I will be keeping this one as my "shop guitar"....
Thanks again for the quick service and a heck-of-a-bang-for-the-buck guitar!
